Who runs this site
This is the personal portfolio of Robert Szalkai, Timișoara, Romania. I am the only person who sees the data described here.
What I measure without cookies
When you open a page, two tools count the visit. Neither one sets a cookie, and neither one stores anything in your browser. This is why the site does not ask you before it counts.
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. It sees the page URL, the referring site, your browser and operating system, and your country.
- PostHog (EU cloud, servers in Frankfurt) does the same, and adds: how far down the page you scrolled, how long the page was open, which section of the page came into view, and which links you clicked (for example the CV download or the LinkedIn link).
Both tools discard your IP address after they use it to find your country. Neither one can recognise you when you come back, because nothing is stored in your browser. I do not collect your name, your email address, or anything you type.
What changes if you accept cookies
If you click Accept in the banner, PostHog sets one cookie and one browser storage entry. They hold a random id and last up to 12 months. With them PostHog can:
- Record your session: mouse movement, scrolling and clicks on this site, as a replay I can watch. Anything you type is masked before it leaves your browser.
- Build heatmaps of where visitors click and how far they scroll.
- Recognise your browser when you return, so I can tell a new visitor from a returning one.
PostHog keeps recordings for one month, then deletes them.
If you click Decline, nothing changes: the site keeps counting without cookies as described above.
How to change your decision
Click Cookie settings in the footer of any page. The banner comes back. If you had accepted before, the cookie and the storage entry are deleted at once, and recording stops.
Where the data goes
PostHog Inc. processes the data on my behalf, on servers in the European Union. Vercel Inc. processes the page view counts. I do not sell or share the data with anyone else.
